Bratislava, Slovakia -- Jozef Barta has been appointed general director
of EuroTel Bratislava, the Slovakian wireless business in which Slovenske
Telekomunikacie (Slovak Telecom), MediaOne International, and Bell
Atlantic are joint venture partners.

A graduate of Harvard, Barta comes from Credit Suisse First Boston Bank
in Prague where, he has arranged structured financing, high profile bond
issues and syndicated loans to businesses in the growing Slovakian market
since 1993. His expertise in mergers and acquisitions was instrumental in
the bank expanding its activities in the Slovakian market.

Before joining Credit Suisse, in 1991 Barta spent some time at Colgate-
Palmolive in the United States assessing international business
development opportunities in the Czechoslovakian market. From 1987 to
1990, Barta was export manager for Omnia Import/Export in Slovakia,
distributing consumer goods throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle
East.

Barta replaces Artur Bobovnicky, who has been with EuroTel Bratislava
for five years, the last two as general director. He leaves to pursue other
interests.
