Bell Atlantic Adds Internet Guide To Yellow Pages In Baltimore

BETHESDA, Md. -- If you need help in getting connected, learning the
lingo and searching for the best sites on the Internet, Bell Atlantic
has just what you need- a how-to guide to the Internet. Offered free
to consumers, the new Internet Guide is bound inside the Bell Atlantic
Yellow Pages for Baltimore, Md.
The Internet Guide is a primer for novices to the Internet in easy to
understand language. It provides an overview and simple step-by-step
instructions for getting started on the Internet and the World Wide
Web. The Internet Guide also has a corresponding web site at

useful, basic information on the Internet in the Yellow Pages."
Internet Guide sections include: Welcome to Cyberspace, Getting
Started, The Basic Gear, Connecting to the Web, Internet Suite
Software, Shopping for an Internet Service Provider, How to Find
Anything on the Web, The Best Web Sites, Learning the Lingo and
Internet Directory. Users can begin by reviewing the chart of
recommended minimum hardware specifications for buying a new PC or
Macintosh* computer that supports basic or faster Internet access.
The Internet Guide helps them evaluate their own needs before
selecting an Internet service provider or online service. Once these
basic elements are established, the Internet Guide explains how
navigational tools locate topic specific information on the World Wide
Web. It also lists recommended sites to enhance the surfing

a standard part of the Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages. The 12-page, full
color Internet Guide is printed on durable, coated paper. It is marked
with a tab in the front of the directory to make the Internet Guide
easy to find.
Bell Atlantic collaborated with HomePC magazine to develop content for
the Internet Guide. HomePC magazine provides evaluations and
information on computer related technologies, the Internet and online
services. The Internet Guide was written by Charles Bowen,
contributing editor to HomePC magazine and author of Modem Nation, a
recently published book on Internet consumer resources. Bowen also
hosts "Internet News," a syndicated daily radio show.

The Internet Guide provides an advertising vehicle for related

Bell Atlantic has begun delivery of the Internet Guide in the
Loudoun/Fauquier, Va., and Elizabeth, N.J., Yellow Pages. Over the
next two years, the Internet Guide will be added to the Yellow Pages
reaching nearly every consumer and business in the Bell Atlantic
