BELL ATLANTIC ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR AFFORDABLE,
EASY-TO-USE INTERNET PRODUCT LINE

Range Of High-Speed, Affordable Business Connections Being Offered;
Orders For Initial Access Services Are Being Taken Today

Starting In July Unlimited Consumer Internet Access Will Be
Available

RESTON, VA -- Bell Atlantic Internet Solutions today
announced the
introduction of a line of business and residential Internet products
and services. Bell Atlantic Internet Solutions is a new unit of Bell
Atlantic created to develop and deliver Internet-based services to
businesses, governments and consumers.

With its entry into the Internet market, Bell Atlantic extends its
line of communications services to bring the advantages of the
Internet into businesses and homes in the Mid-Atlantic region. Bell
Atlantic Internet Solutions will provide users with a friendly, simple
and affordable way to connect to and navigate through the Internet.
It will offer a full range of Internet services -- from electronic
mail to World Wide Web site production and hosting. These new
Internet access services are in addition to the traditional transport
services Bell Atlantic already provides to users of the Internet.

"Bell Atlantic will provide a full suite of Internet offerings
backed
by the high level of service and value for which we are known," said
Stuart Johnson, Bell
Atlantic group president-Large Business and Information Services.

The first set of services offered include high-speed, dedicated access
services for connecting businesses with the Internet. Bell Atlantic
currently is conducting a trial of these dedicated access services
with a number of business customers in the Washington, D.C., area.
Dedicated access will be available commercially in Washington, D.C.,
in May, Baltimore in June, Philadelphia in August and New Jersey in
September. Dedicated business access services are being offered with
a choice of speeds, ranging from 56 kilobits per second to 34 megabits
per second.

Also available are a set of services that will help businesses and
government organizations establish a presence on the World Wide Web.
These include Web site production, hosting and security services.
Bell Atlantic is also offering consulting and network integration
services that provide expert aid to customers who require support in
the planning, design, procurement and management of their Internet
connections and presence. (See Attachments and Chart

The second set of services to be made available -- which includes
dial-up Internet access -- is geared toward consumers and small
businesses. The price for dial-up service will be as low as $19.95
per month for unlimited access and $6.95 for five hours per month,
depending on the customer's choice of Internet interexchange carrier.
Bell Atlantic currently is testing its consumer service. Bell
Atlantic will begin fulfilling orders in July for dial-up access in
the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore metropolitan areas, and Roanoke
and the surrounding rural areas of southwestern Virginia. Dial-up
Internet access for Philadelphia and New Jersey will be available by
late summer.(See

the quality and customer care and support synonymous with Bell
Atlantic," said Bob

through the Internet as simple as making a telephone call and our
products are designed to evolve with the changing needs of our
customers."

Bell Atlantic Internet Solutions also announced today that it has
signed a licensing agreement with Netscape for Netscape Navigator*
client software for consumers and a full range of Netscape client and
server software for businesses. The agreement with Netscape includes
Navigator support for ISDN, the first time Netscape has licensed this
capability to a third party vendor.
