PHILADELPHIA - Bell Atlantic International Wireless (BAIW) today
announced that its Chief Financial Officer, Mack Treece, has been
appointed to the additional role of Vice President-Asia/Pacific, with
direct responsibility for managing the company's position in PT
Excelcomindo Pratama and CSM (Citra Sari Makmur), its wireless
communications properties in Indonesia.

Treece joined BAIW's senior staff in 1996 after serving as CFO for the
company's EuroTel investments in the Czech Republic and Slovakia from
1993-1996.

Bell Atlantic International Wireless President and CEO Tom Bartlett
said, "Since joining us in 1993, Mack has helped build a profitable
portfolio of high growth markets covering nearly half a billion
potential customers, and was instrumental in the launch and success of
our EuroTel businesses. Mack's international and operational
experience will allow us to leverage his knowledge across some of our
youngest markets, developing additional control and value in our Asian
investments."

Treece, based in Bell Atlantic International Wireless headquarters in
Philadelphia, also serves on the Board of Directors at Grupo Iusacell
and sits on the Audit and Finance Committees for the boards of several
of Bell Atlantic's other international wireless businesses.
Bell Atlantic manages one of the world's largest international
wireless portfolios with investments in Latin America, Europe, and
Asia that cover some 500 million total potential customers and serve
nearly four million total subscribers.

Bell Atlantic - formed through the merger of Bell Atlantic and NYNEX
- is at the forefront of the new communications and information
industry. With 40.5 million telephone access lines and six million
wireless customers worldwide, Bell Atlantic companies are premier
providers of advanced wireline voice and data services, market leaders
in wireless services and the world's largest publishers of directory
information. Bell Atlantic companies are also among the world's
largest investors in high-growth global communications markets, with
operations and investments in 21 countries.
