WILMINGTON, Del. -- The State of Delaware has awarded its first-ever
exclusive wireless phone service contract to Bell Atlantic Mobile.
The three-year, 3,000-plus line contract includes analog and digital
wireless service and is accessible to School Districts, State Colleges and
Universities, Political Subdivisions and Volunteer Fire Companies. The
contract features eight price plans to suit the diverse usage patterns of all
the State agencies and municipalities.
State contracts are awarded based on a point system where price,
coverage, conformance to bid, references and task performance are graded
on a percentage basis.
"Our ability to provide 100 percent digital coverage throughout
Delaware combined with our competitive pricing and long history with the
state put us ahead of the competition," said John Stratton, Bell
Atlantic Mobile's regional president.
