BEDMINSTER, N.J., -- Bell Atlantic Mobile has named Debra Friedman
Carroll vice president of marketing, responsible for developing and
directing the strategy for marketing the carrier's wireless products
and services throughout its service area, from Maine to Georgia.
Specifically, she will oversee all corporate marketing, advertising
and new product development.
Carroll has 10 years' experience in the wireless industry. Most
recently she had been executive director of marketing and inside sales
for the company's Northeast region, which includes Boston, the sixth
largest wireless market in the country. Her efforts there helped the
company earn the distinction of the best in overall customer
satisfaction of Boston area wireless providers two years in a row from
J.D. Power & Associates.
"Debra's leadership in the Northeast helped capture market share
and deliver exceptional operational results in one of the most
competitive markets in the country," said Jack Plating, executive vice
president and chief operating officer of Bell Atlantic Mobile. "Her
track record at both the staff and operations level make Debra
especially qualified for the challenge of furthering our position as
the premier wireless provider on the East Coast."
Carroll succeeds John Stratton who was named president of the
company's Philadelphia region.
Prior to her last assignment, Carroll directed marketing operations
and training in the company's Washington/Baltimore market for three
years. She joined the company in 1989 and advanced through various
positions in product management and business planning on the
