PHILADELPHIA - In addition to buying your mother the typical flowers
and a day trip to the spa for Mother's Day, the American Cancer
Society and Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile are urging Delaware Valley
residents to call and remind their mothers to get a mammogram. To
promote breast cancer awareness on Mother's Day, Bell Atlantic NYNEX
Mobile is offering a free cellular call to moms anywhere in the
continental U.S. from all 21 Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile stores and
kiosks all day on Friday, May 9.

An American Cancer Society volunteer will be on-site at two of these
locations - 17th & Market and The Plaza at King of Prussia -- to
answer questions about breast cancer. A complementary brochure, "8
Tips for a Good Mammogram," will be available at each store location.

"We are proud to be a part of this life-saving initiative, which we
hope will help make a difference in the health of Greater Philadelphia
residents and their families," said Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile
regional president Robert F. Stott. "As a cancer survivor myself, I
hope area residents will take advantage of this offer to learn more
about breast cancer and to wish Mom well," he added.

As the American Cancer Society's first "Official Corporate Partner" in
Southeast Pennsylvania, Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile recently announced
its $90,000 cash contribution over the next two years to the
organization, and will continue to utilize its extensive network of
employees, customers and resources to mobilize additional funds and
awareness of the American Cancer Society's life-saving efforts.

Howard Kessler, M.D., president of the American Cancer Society's
Southeast region, added, "We appreciate Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile's
support and commitment to promote awareness of this disease that
affects so many Delaware Valley residents, and we encourage everyone
to join us in the fight against breast cancer during this family
holiday and beyond."
