PHILADELPHIA -- Bell Atlantic announced today that Thomas A. Bartlett is appointed president of the New England and Upstate New York region for Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile. He succeeds Benjamin L. Scott who last week was named president and CEO of PCS PrimeCo.

Bartlett, who has extensive operations and management experience in the U.S. wireless industry, will be responsible for the corporation's global wireless interests which operate in high-growth markets in North America, Latin America and Europe.

"We are eager to have Tom join Bell Atlantic's international wireless arena," said Lawrence T. Babbio, Jr., vice chairman of Bell Atlantic Corporation. "Tom's significant background and achievements in the wireless industry and in international business will greatly enhance our international wireless operations."

Bartlett has held a number of senior positions at Bell Atlantic Mobile, including regional vice president-Philadelphia/New Jersey, where he was responsible for sales, marketing, engineering, administration, finance and network systems expansion in Philadelphia, New Jersey and Delaware. Previously, he was vice president-business development at Bell Atlantic Mobile.
