new regional toll calling plan, Bell Atlantic® SoundMinutes®, can now
make free calls on weekends.
SoundMinutes is a flat rate per-minute calling plan that allows
consumers to make regional in-state toll calls for 10 cents per minute
Monday through Friday. Free, unlimited weekend calling is a
promotional offer that is available through March 1, 1998. After that
date, all calls will be 10 cents per minute.
"With SoundMinutes, you can talk as long as you like on weekends and it
won't cost a cent," said Josh Martin, president and CEO of Bell
Atlantic-Delaware. "There are no restrictions, no hassles and no fees
to enroll."
Regional, in-state toll calls are calls beyond a customer's local
calling area, but within a few dozen miles from the customer's home.
Examples of in-state, regional calls are those from Newark to Dover,
and Rehoboth to Wilmington.
In addition, SoundMinutes calls will be billed in six second
increments after the first minute of the call. For example, a call of
1 minute 12 seconds will cost 12 cents.
Cellular, 976, operator-handled and calling card calls are not
included in SoundMinutes. Also, customers who sign up for
SoundMinutes are not eligible for the company's Maximum Value or
Consumer Opportunity Savings Plans.
Residential customers can find out more information about SoundMinutes
by calling Bell Atlantic at 1-800-942-5000. Hours are 8 a.m. to 6
p.m. Monday-Friday. There is no charge to enroll in the plan.
