ANNE S. BABINEAU
VICE PRESIDENT
AND GENERAL COUNSEL
Newark, N.J. -- Utility lawyer Anne S. Babineau has been named
vice
president, general counsel and secretary of Bell Atlantic-New Jersey.
Her predecessor, Leslie A. Vial, is moving to a new job with Bell
Atlantic in Arlington, Va., to manage Federal Communications
Commission matters arising from the recent enactment of the federal
telecommunications reform law.
Babineau, 44, will remain a partner in the Woodbridge law firm of
Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer. She has practiced utility law since she
graduated cum laude from Seton Hall Law School in 1977.
Babineau's clients have included Bell Atlantic-New Jersey and Public
Service Electric and Gas.
In addition, she has been active in rate cases involving New Jersey
Natural Gas Company, Jersey Central Power and Light and other
utilities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Prior to attending law school, she was employed by Bell Atlantic-New
Jersey, known then as New Jersey Bell.
Babineau is a member of the bars for New Jersey, New York and the U.S.
Court of Appeals, Third Circuit.
She also is a member of the Public Utility Sections of the American
Bar Association and the New Jersey Bar Association.
Babineau resides in Cranford with her husband Paul and two sons, John
and Matthew.
