Delaware Relies on Verizon for Advanced Communications Solution to Support State Government and School District Services

When Delaware needed to expand services to residents and businesses while providing state employees with advanced unified communications tools, it turned to Verizon for a managed solution that will serve as the essential platform for a range of new applications and programs.

Verizon's solution consolidates the state's various technology resources into a single managed environment that links hundreds of state offices and school districts while setting the stage for the adoption of advanced applications that support the state's initiatives for data center consolidation, telework and business continuity.

Delaware is deploying Verizon IP Trunking across a private IP network service to extend the capabilities and reach of its Ethernet network.  Verizon's Burstable Enterprise Shared Trunks (BEST) capability, available with the company's IP Trunking solution, enables the state to use idle trunk capacity at one location to accommodate an increase in communications traffic at another, boosting efficiency and lowering costs.

By upgrading its network infrastructure, the state will be able to reduce the number of data centers that serve state agencies, which, in turn, is expected to reduce energy consumption and costs, and help the agencies meet environmental-conservation goals.
