BURNABY, B.C. - Dominion Information Services Inc., a subsidiary of Verizon Information Services and leading directory services provider of telephone directories across Canada, today launched www.SuperPages.ca, Canada's most comprehensive national online directory containing more than 1.1 million business listings and 12 million residential listings. SuperPages.ca offers Internet users easy access to a wide range of shopping and directory information, as well as maps, City Pages information and global directory Web site links.
"The launch of SuperPages.ca is another step in building Dominion Information Services Inc. into the premier national online and print directory company in Canada," said Dominion Vice President and General Manager Scott Laver. "Canadians can now access directory and shopping information in whichever format they want, when they want it; and, because SuperPages.ca provides information via the Internet, browsers can find Canadian businesses and residential listings no matter where they live in Canada or the rest of the world."
The site provides links to restaurants, stores, classified advertisements, maps and driving directions. It links buyers and sellers in a rich online environment, based on the user's specified neighbourhood search. Users can also access directory information - including addresses, telephone numbers, and postal codes - anywhere in Canada.
"What sets SuperPages.ca apart is the way it is designed," Laver explained. "This portal connects buyers and sellers with easy-to-use navigation tools and gives visitors full access to the data they have come to rely on from our established print telephone books."
The site also gives advertisers a venue to promote goods and services through listings, Web pages and shopping services, according to their specific local, regional and national needs. Both "brick and mortar" and online-only advertisers can target the geographical markets where their products and services are used.
SuperPages.ca is modeled after United States-based www.SuperPages.com, the world's leading online directory service and shopping resource. Offered by Dominion's parent company, Verizon Information Services, SuperPages.com currently attracts up to 10 million visits and 38 million searches per month.
"Although SuperPages.ca has just been introduced, many Canadians already recognize the value it provides because they've been using SuperPages.com for years. Approximately 150,000 to 300,000 searches made each month on that site originate from Canada," said Paul Wood, executive director of marketing and e-commerce. "Now we are providing the same quality product, customized for the Canadians.
