EUROTEL AWARDED GSM LICENSE
IN CZECH
REPUBLIC
Prague, Czech Republic-- Today EuroTel Praha spol. s
r.o. was awarded
one of two authorizations to establish and operate a public mobile
telecommunications network pursuant to the GSM standard by the
Ministry of Economy.
EuroTel Praha has been the operator of an NMT 450I cellular network in
the Czech Republic since November 1991. EuroTel is currently serving
over 51,000 customers and its NMT 450I network covers 83% of the Czech
territory and 95% of the population.
"We are pleased to accept this authorization and look forward to
expanding our mobile telephony product offerings to include GSM, the
most widely accepted digital mobile telecommunication standard in the
world." said Mac Allman, EuroTel Praha's Managing Director.
"We are
committed to bringing GSM to the people of the Czech Republic as soon
as possible in accordance with the conditions of our authorization."
EuroTel Praha spol, s r.o. is a joint venture of SPT TELECOM a.s.
(51%) and Atlantic West B.V. (49%). Atlantic West B.V. is a venture
of U S WEST International, Inc. and Bell Atlantic Corporation.
