DALLAS -- GTE's SuperPages (SM) interactive directory service now features free classified advertising, which allows users to place and search nationwide classified ads on the site.
GTE's SuperPages interactive directory service includes 11 million U.S. businesses and a web site directory with more than 60,000 business websites. Each of the 11 million business listings is linked to maps that allow users to zoom in and out on a selected location. The addition of free classified advertising through a collaboration with Classifieds2000 of Santa Clara, Calif., broadens the portfolio of services already offered on the site.
"Nationwide, free classified advertising is our latest value-added feature and a natural fit for GTE's SuperPages site," said Patrick Marshall, vice president, New Media Services, GTE Directories. "Our mission continues to be providing consumers with more options and information and our advertisers more value."
Via the link connecting GTE's SuperPages directory service and the
Classifieds 2000 network, ads posted on GTE's SuperPages can be seen by thousands of users accessing the Classifieds2000 network from other sites on the Internet's World Wide Web, including National Public Radio's "Car Talk" and "Web TV."
Initially, GTE's SuperPages classified advertising service will specialize in listing used automobiles, one of the most successful classified categories on the web. By early 1997, the service will be expanded to include a comprehensive set of categories, including appliances, computers, cameras and video, furniture and more.
Users of GTE's SuperPages may post classified ads for free by filling out a form on the site. For an additional nominal fee, users can include such features as a color photograph. Auto dealers may list their entire used car inventory and group their listings using banner ads and other features to further distinguish their ad. Consumers looking for a new or used car can be notified via e-mail when a car matching their search criteria becomes available.
Classifieds2000 is the leading centralized provider of classifieds content and technology for World Wide Web publishers. Through its partner web sites, Classifieds2000 offers a free, easy-to-use, database-driven classifieds service to best-in-class web content providers.
