PHILADELPHIA -- A dramatic addition to the Philadelphia skyline -- the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts -- graces the cover of the new 2002-2003 Verizon SuperPages telephone directories being distributed this month to area residents and businesses. The Kimmel Center, a spectacular steel and glass complex featuring concert halls and recital theaters appears on the cover of the yellow pages, and a patriotic montage-Independence Hall, Love Park and the Betsy Ross original American flag-honoring the history of Philadelphia appears on the cover of the white pages. More than 1.8 million yellow and white SuperPages directories currently are being delivered.

Verizon Foundation contributed $14.5 million toward the construction of the Kimmel Center which houses two major venues: Verizon Hall -- a 2,500-seat concert hall built specifically to house The Philadelphia Orchestra -- and Perelman Theater -- a 650-seat recital theater.

"Verizon SuperPages chose Philadelphia as one of only eight communities where special, localized artwork is featured on our covers. The city's significant historical contributions highlighted on the white pages are juxtaposed with the progressive new performing arts center displayed on the yellow pages. By bringing the past and present together, we honor the city's many resources and accomplishments," said Pat Marshall, group vice president -- marketing, Verizon Information Services.

Philadelphians can now plan their after-theater dining with the new, comprehensive Dining Your Way Restaurant Guide, another addition to this year's Verizon SuperPages. The guide offers an A-Z reference to Philadelphia restaurants, A Feature Finder to locate specific cuisine and MenuPages to preview restaurant offerings. The directory also includes an Inside Look® Community Magazine, which showcases other area attractions, entertainment, recreation and community services.

In addition to finding local listings in the City and Northeast editions of the Philadelphia SuperPages, area residents can log on to Verizon SuperPages.com (www.SuperPages.com), the Internet's leading online directory and shopping resource, for millions of local and national business listings. In support of both SuperPages.com and the printed SuperPages, the Philadelphia directories include the Verizon Internet and Online Services Guide, which provides tips for selecting an Internet Service Provider, an primer on Internet software, Internet searching tips and frequently visited recommended Web sites.
