NEW YORK and MIAMI - Verizon and Lennar Corporation (NYSE: LEN and LEN.B), one of the nation's leading homebuilders, have entered into a national marketing agreement to provide select Lennar communities and homebuyers with early access to Verizon's premium broadband and voice services, beginning in Texas and central Florida.
Under the terms of the agreement, Lennar homebuyers will be among the first to experience Verizon's FiOS Internet Service, a cutting-edge Web service delivered over an advanced fiber-optic network that offers connection speeds from 5Mbps to up to 30Mbps (megabits per second). Verizon will market its broadband and voice services to prospective homebuyers in certain mutually-agreed-upon Lennar communities, giving homebuyers the ability to select these services and have them installed prior to moving in. FiOS services come with the added benefits of a single bill from one company and bundle-discounted prices.
"Working with an industry leader like Verizon gives our prospective homeowners access to the most advanced broadband technologies and services available - from a name they know and trust." said David Kaiserman, president of Lennar Communications Ventures, a newly formed division of Lennar Corporation that oversees its consolidated communications interests. "Exposing our homebuyers to essential and advanced communications early in the process will make moving into a Lennar home that much simpler."
Verizon began working last year with builders and developers to build fiber-to-the-premises networks from the ground up in order to deliver the most up-to-date, high-value broadband service
"Lennar's home buyers are heavy users of broadband services, and their communities provide an attractive and efficient avenue for delivering our cutting-edge communication services," said Eric Cevis, vice president, Verizon Enhanced Communities. "Those Lennar communities where FiOS is deployed will be unique in their respective markets, and the customers who buy the homes will be among the first to FIOS."
