NEW YORK, NY -- New Yorkers know a good deal when they see it.

Within just a few weeks, hundreds of thousands of New York businesses and residents have signed up for one of NYNEXs optional calling plans.

The NYNEX Business Linksm Plan, which was introduced in late September, already has surpassed by 25 percent the projected number of New York small- and medium-sized businesses that were expected to sign up for the plan by the beginning of December, and already has met year-end projections.

Sales of NYNEXs optional calling plans for residence customers -- the Unlimited Calling Plan and the Cents-Per-Minute Plan -- have reached more than 50 percent of the companys six-month objective in less than two months.

"The demand for our Business Link product has been tremendous," said Sam Vogel, NYNEX managing director for business usage products. "And at this point, we are seeing strong support, both in terms of customer sign-ups and their comments, for this volume discount and loyalty-rewarding product."

"Since the day in October we announced our new plans -- Unlimited Calling and Cents-Per-Minute -- our residence customers have been telling us that we have designed products that meet their needs," said Tom Caldwell, NYNEX managing director for residence calling services. "The sustained heavy demand for these products affirms our

belief that customers want value, choice, control and simplicity -- the very attributes these plans offer.

The NYNEX Business Link Plan is open to all businesses in the state with total monthly NYNEX charges of more than $85, and offers volume discounts based on every dollar spent with NYNEX, ranging from 5 to 15 percent. The plan also includes additional discounts at six month intervals that are designed to reward customers length of time with the plan.

With the Unlimited Calling Plan, residence customers throughout the state are able to make an unlimited number of calls each month for a set monthly charge. The monthly charge is set for each customer based on that customer's past calling usage. Downstate customers also have the option of combining the unlimited regional calling plan with an unlimited local calling plan.

With the Cents-Per-Minute Plan, residence customers have a low per-minute rate for regional calls. The plan offers the same low rates, regardless of the time of day or the day of the week
