NYNEX Executive Walt Rickard To Retire

NEW YORK -- NYNEX announced today that Walt Rickard, President
and Chief Executive Officer of NYNEX Entertainment and Information Services

and its subsidiaries.

Rickard has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of NEIS since its
inception in May of 1994. During that time, Rickard has been instrumental in
forging the company's video and information services strategy.

"Walt's unique combination of marketing and technical knowledge has been a
great asset in positioning NYNEX to successfully enter the video services
marketplace," said Ivan G. Seidenberg, NYNEX Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer. "In just two short years, Walt took his organization from concept to
reality. All of us at NYNEX will miss his boundless energy and contagious
enthusiasm for everything he does," said Seidenberg.

Rickard began his career with Sperry Gyroscope in 1962. In 1965, he accepted
a position designing aircraft computer systems at Grumman Aircraft.

He joined Bell Laboratories in 1966 as a member of the technical staff and
held positions of increasing responsibility at AT&T and NYNEX. Rickard was
appointed vice president - Marketing at NYNEX Business Information Systems
Company in April 1986.

In January 1987, he was appointed vice president - Marketing and Technology
at New York Telephone. He was the first company executive to have
responsibility for both the marketing and technology functions. In May 1992,
he was named vice president - Telecommunications Planning and Business
Development for the NYNEX Telecommunications Group.

Rickard is a member of the St. John's University Council and has received the
Founders Day Award from New York University and the President's Medal from St.
John's University. He is the past chairman and chief executive officer of the
New York Board of Trade. He is a member of TAU BETA PI, the National
