Athens, Greece -- STET HELLAS Telecommunications
S.A. today announced it is the sponsor of the art exhibit "Pablo Picasso: Studies for
the Guernica," that opened last Friday at the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens.
From September 24 to December 31, 1999, the New Wing of the Museum of Cycladic
Art will host Picasso's famed studies of Guernica, part of the collection of the National
Museum Center of Art Reina Sofia in Madrid, Spain.
The exhibition is considered one of the major cultural events in Athens this year and is
expected to attract thousands of visitors to what is the first showing of these works in
Greece.
Pablo Picasso: Studies for the Guernica" exhibit is the second part of a cultural
exchange between the two museums that was begun in May of 1999 with the exhibition
of a significant part of the Cycladic Art Museum's collection in Madrid.
TELESTET's support for this project is consistent with the sponsorship strategy the
company put in place six years ago. According to Stet Hellas Managing Director
Roberto Rovera, "By sponsoring the Museum of Cycladic Art we aim to build
relationships, cross boundaries, and share common values. We support cultural exchange
in order to promote what we believe is the essence of human nature: freedom to think,
freedom to communicate."
