NEW YORK -- Transportation Displays Inc. (TDI), of New York City,
has won the Bell Atlantic Supplier Excellence Award for outstanding
customer service for the second consecutive year.
TDI manufactures installs and maintains the advertising displays on Bell
Atlantic's outdoor pay phone kiosks in the five boroughs of New York
City. The company also solicits advertising for the kiosks and bills and
collects all advertising fees.
Donald Allman, chief operating officer, TDI, accepted the award at 12:30
p.m., July 15, at TDI's headquarters. Bell Atlantic President Public
Communications Lorraine Chickering presented the award.
"Our suppliers play a vital role in Bell Atlantic's mission to care for
our customers, provide outstanding service and create shareowner
value," said Chickering. "TDI has worked with Bell Atlantic
to identify new locations for public telephones and advertising displays. It
is
this type of strategic partnering that Bell Atlantic seeks to foster and
recognize through the Supplier Excellence Awards program."
Bell Atlantic has added 100 advertising sites in 1998 as a result of a newly
designed TDI display for small telephone kiosks in Manhattan.
"We are delighted to be the recipients of this award for the second
year in a row. The new panel design has been embraced by advertisers
and looks great on the City's streets," said Allman. "Our
partnership with Bell Atlantic continues to be a very important one."
TDI is one of only nine suppliers, out of 6,500, to earn the Bell Atlantic
Supplier Excellence Award and only one of two that have won the award
two consecutive years. The suppliers were judged on key performance
attributes, including quality, responsiveness, delivery and customer
satisfaction, for the products and services they provided to Bell Atlantic.
The annual Supplier Excellence Awards program enables Bell Atlantic to
thank the winners publicly for their hard work and dedication to
excellence, which help Bell Atlantic maintain its position as a market
leader. In addition, the award encourages other suppliers to raise their
level of performance.
