BASKING RIDGE, N.J. - Verizon Business announced today a new two-year agreement with Power2Ship Inc., creator of the P2S MobileMarket™, an asset management tool for the truckload freight industry. Verizon Business is providing a robust managed hosting environment that meets the growing demand for supply chain asset tracking, visibility and up-to-the-minute information for shipping and transportation companies. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Backed by Verizon Business' IT Solutions Hosting services, Power2Ship's secure wireless Internet-based application system enables freight operators to track the movement of any number of trucks around the country, as well as containers entering the nation's ports from around the world. As a result, Power2Ship can more efficiently meet its customers' demands for real-time information on shipping transactions, while helping to safeguard the nation's transportation systems.
"Millions of dollars are at stake each year in the transportation industry due to theft of cargo, missing shipments and the need to protect shipments against potential terrorist activities," said Steve Young, group president for Verizon Business corporate accounts. "Verizon Business is helping Power2Ship to address these challenges by powering its advanced Web-based applications used to closely track shipments, monitor the supply chain and secure cargo."
With Verizon Business' managed offering, Power2Ship can more readily focus on developing compelling electronic applications to keep America's trucks safe and running on schedule. Additionally, Verizon Business' managed hosting service enables Power2Ship to reduce operational costs by outsourcing its hosting needs.
"We selected Verizon Business because it offers a powerful hosting environment, including an IP network with a reputation for reliability, scalability, flexibility and security," said Michael J. Darden, president, Power2Ship. "Verizon Business provides the right environment to ensure our continuous operation, allowing anytime visibility into our customers' shipments."
