BOSTON -- Verizon Information Services, the world's largest directory
publisher, is now delivering Boston's first Verizon-branded directories. More than 2.6
million copies of the 2001-2002 Boston White and Yellow Pages are being distributed to
area businesses and residences.
"The Boston directory is among the largest of the nearly 2,000 phone books in the
Verizon family of local community directories published nationwide," said Gerard
Corcoran, regional vice president of sales, Verizon Information Services. "With
Boston consumers making over one million references to the Verizon [formerly Bell
Atlantic] Yellow Pages each week, the Boston directory has a long history of connecting
buyers and sellers."
For the first time, the Boston White Pages features e-mail addresses, URL addresses and
signature fonts, allowing residents several customized options with a second line of
information.
New features in the Verizon Yellow Pages include a convenient and detailed street map
of the Boston area. Also, users looking for restaurants to fit their tastes will find the
Restaurant Guide, under Restaurants in the Yellow Pages, a handy
reference with over 50 menu pages and a restaurant locator map. The directory is coupon-
packed with 90 money-saving coupons from Verizon advertisers.
Area residents can supplement the information available in the Boston directory by
logging on to SuperPages.com from Verizon (www.superpages.com), the Internet's leading
online directory and shopping resource, for millions of local and national business
listings.
The Boston directory also includes the Verizon Internet Guide, a road map to finding the
information you need on the Web -- complete with Internet searching tips, unique Web
sites and listings of frequently referenced internet-related businesses.
"Our primary goal is to provide many options for our customers to help them find
the information and resources they are looking for," said Corcoran. "Through
our printed and online directories, customers can now find virtually everything they
need."
Anyone who needs to order extra directories or has not yet received a directory should
call Verizon Information Services' Distribution Department at 1-800-346-9639.
