MARION, Ohio -- Beginning today, Verizon is introducing an Extended Local Calling Plan that gives customers in Cambridge the opportunity to call Newcomerstown at local rates.
This replaces the current calling plan, and gives Cambridge customers a larger local calling area.
With the expansion of the local calling area, Cambridge customers will pay the following rates for calls:
- Weekdays (8 a.m.- 9 p.m.), five cents per minute,
- Weeknights (9 p.m.- 8 a.m.), three cents per minute,
- Weekends and holidays, three cents per minute.
Calls will be itemized on each customer's bill.
In the past these customers had paid long distance rates for these calls.
The Extended Local Calling Plan does not require a sign-up fee or enrollment, and will be available to all Cambridge customers whose phone numbers begin with 432, 435, or 439.
Cambridge customers, however, must dial 10 digits (the area code and the seven-digit telephone number) when calling Newcomerstown. They should not dial the 1 prefix to complete these calls, as they have done in the past
Verizon increased the local calling area for Cambridge as a result of customer requests and studies of calling patterns.
Telecommunications equipment such as auto dialers, fax machines, computer modems and PBX or key system equipment will need to be reprogrammed to reflect the dialing changes.
Customers with questions concerning these changes may call Verizon toll-free at 1-800-483-4000 (for residential customers) or 1-800-483-5000 (for business customers).
