NEW YORK - Verizon is expanding its services for Spanish-speaking DSL customers by offering an in-language e-mail option. Now, customers have the option under the "E-mail and More" tab at the Verizon Central portal to compose, send and receive e-mail in Spanish when they log into their account.
"We carefully considered the communication styles and preferences of our Spanish-speaking customers and found that the most-used tool to communicate with their friends and family, here or abroad is e-mail," said Jeffery McFarland, executive director of multicultural marketing for Verizon. "To better serve our Spanish-speaking and -writing customers, Verizon expanded our e-mail platform and developed this tool that allows our customers to tailor their e-mail account so that it suits their lifestyle and preference."
To activate the option, users only need to log into their Verizon e-mail account, go to the "E-Mail and More" tab, choose "Options" and select Spanish as their language preference either for one session or permanently. All e-mail interface items will then automatically display in Spanish. Spanish-speaking DSL customers can access the Spanish-language DSL Web site by visiting espanol.verizon.com or through dslstart.verizon.net.
Customers can then conduct personal and business communication in Spanish, including all functions such as sending and receiving e-mails, managing the address book and setting e-mail options. To switch back to English, users simply adjust the language preference and proceed with e-mailing.
"Verizon understands that in-language options like these are often times limited and can be frustrating to use. So we've made our tool easy to navigate," said Patricia Zerdán, senior Hispanic marketing manager for Verizon. "If our customers choose, they can toggle back and forth between Spanish and English during their e-mail session."
