SUNBURY, Pa. - Verizon Online is raising the speed limit in Sunbury and Shamokin with the introduction of super-fast digital subscriber line (DSL) service for consumers and businesses.
Verizon Pennsylvania is aggressively rolling out DSL services to consumers and businesses in its rural, suburban and urban service areas. The service now is available in 60 percent of Verizon's call switching centers, serving about 60 percent of the company's phone lines.
Verizon residential customers save $15 a month on DSL when they also order the newest package of services from Verizon, VeriationsSM Freedom. With the Veriations Freedom package, customers get unlimited direct-dialed local and Verizon long-distance calling and up to five call-management features, like Caller ID, for one low monthly price.
"DSL provides customers with the speed they need to take full advantage of the Internet for their small business needs, telecommuting, banking, shopping online and entertainment like games-on-demand," said James V. O'Rourke, president of Verizon Pennsylvania. "Now our customers in Sunbury and Shamokin can enjoy the benefits of turbo-charged Internet access.
"This strong DSL deployment program is part of Verizon's $7 billion investment in its Pennsylvania telecommunications network over the past nine years," O'Rourke said. "Pennsylvanians benefit from one of the most technologically advanced networks in the country, with more than 1.1 million miles of Verizon fiber-optics spanning the commonwealth."
