NEW YORK -- Verizon and uReach Technologies have entered into an agreement to offer Unified Communications
service to Verizon customers later this year. The service will enable Verizon customers to get their e-mail, voice mail,
faxes, pages, calendar notification and instant messaging however they choose, using regular Web access, a wireline
phone, a wireless phone or a personal digital assistant.
"We think uReach's Unified Communications product and their professional services support are excellent," said
Richard McCusker, Verizon director of Retail Messaging. "Their established Unified Communications Services
Framework enables us to quickly enter the market with a service that's rapidly growing in demand."
Consumers, especially those with home offices and small businesses, today are managing several message boxes -- home
voice mail, office voice mail, wireless voice mail and various e-mail accounts. With Unified Communications, Verizon
customers will be able to customize how they receive and respond to their calls and messages including:
- receiving voice mails, e-mails and faxes in one message box (unified messaging);
- reviewing and responding to messages of any type on any phone or personal computer using the uReach technology that
translates the original message format into another format;
- receiving notification of new messages via phone, e-mail, pager and instant messaging;
- routing automatically incoming voice and pager calls to the phone number of their choice.
Under the terms of the agreement, uReach will provide the Unified Communications service to Verizon customers including
the service infrastructure, billing and customer support.
"We are delighted to have been selected by Verizon to deliver these innovative services," said Krishnamurty
Kambhampati, president and CEO of uReach Technologies. "Verizon has taken a leadership position in this
rapidly-expanding market. We share their vision and enthusiasm for realizing the full potential of unified
communications."
