Verizon Taps Ruesterholz to Guide Sales, Service and Operations of Telecom Unit

NEW YORK -- Virginia Ruesterholz, president-Verizon Partner Solutions, the company's multibillion dollar wholesale division, has been named president of Verizon Telecom, reporting to Lawrence T. Babbio, vice chairman and president of Verizon. In her new role, Ruesterholz will be responsible for all sales, service and operations activities for the $37.6 billion Verizon Telecom unit. The appointment is effective immediately.

"Virginia is a dynamic leader with a proven track record as evidenced by her leadership of our wholesale business for the last five years," Babbio said. "In this new role, Virginia will lead the broad-ranging sales and operations functions of Verizon Telecom.

"Virginia's team will partner with John Killian's Verizon Business unit to serve as the foundation of our future growth and continued success," Babbio said.

Ruesterholz, most recently president of the company's highly-efficient wholesale business, will now oversee sales and marketing for the consumer, small business and wholesale market segments. In addition, she will be responsible for Verizon's Information Technology team as well as its Network Services group.

Ruesterholz, who has a degree in chemical engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in telecommunications from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, began her career as a manager with New York Telephone in 1984. Since then she has held positions of increasing responsibility in operations, sales and customer service.

She is a recipient of the prestigious "40 Under 40" award from Crain's New York Business and was the first recipient of the "Rising Star Award" from the New York Women's Agenda.
