Verizon Wireless Expands Digital Network in South Charlotte
Company Adds Two New Cell Sites Near I-77 and I-485 Corridors
July 25, 2001
Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless communications provider, today announced it has expanded its digital network near Carowinds Blvd. in Fort Mill and Ballantine Crossing in South Charlotte.
"These new sites ensure our customers living in and traveling through these areas receive enhanced call quality and clarity," said Frank Cairon, Executive Director of Network for Verizon Wireless. "The sites help us stay ahead of demand for Verizon Wireless products and services."
The digital expansion is part of a $115 million expansion in the Carolinas, and a $4 billion national network improvement program for 2001 to offer customers service on the most extensive wireless network in the United States. The company's CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) digital technology provides better voice quality than rival technologies and enables the company to serve more customers and handle more simultaneous calls. Verizon Wireless has the largest digital customer base in the United States.
"Digital expansions ensure we live up to our Worry Free Guarantee promise to customers," Cairon said. "This promise ensures customer satisfaction on all wireless equipment -- and the option to change plans if customers are not satisfied, without paying penalties or fees."
