MIAMI - Soul music fans will be treated to a free three-day beach party hosted by Verizon June 6-8 during the second annual Soul Beach Music Festival in Miami.
Daily activities will include tug-of-war matches, scavenger hunts, volleyball games, trivia contests and dance competitions from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Nikkei Beach Club or the Royal Palm Crowne Plaza Resort in Miami Beach. (Note: See attached schedule of events). Several radio stations will be broadcasting live from the beach events.
This is the second year Verizon has been a major sponsor of the Soul Beach Music Festival. The sponsorship is part of a diverse array of activities the company supports in the African American community.
"We want to support events that celebrate and enrich the diverse cultures of our customers," said Vincent Reed, group manager for Verizon multicultural marketing. "The beach parties in Miami held during the festival also enable use to connect with our customers while providing them with a good time."
Participants can register for the various events each morning between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the live remote broadcast shows. The Soul Beach Music Festival concerts are scheduled for June 7 and 8 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami. In addition to 2002 Grammy Award winner Alicia Keyes, featured acts include internationally acclaimed artists such as Luther Vandross, Cameo, Morris Day and The Time and Musiq.
Other concert sponsors include American Airlines, Crown Royal, the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau and HBO. In addition, Soul Beach Music Festival events include the Crown Royal Comedy Show -- featuring Melanie Comarcho, A.J. Jamal, Miami's own Marvin Dixon and host J. Anthony Brown -- will be held June 6 at the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami.
Tickets for the concerts are $35 to $65 and the comedy show tickets are $27.50 to $37.50. Tickets are available at the American Airlines Arena and at all Florida Ticketmaster locations.
