Small Town Business Owner Delivers With Big Time Technology

Jamie Brubaker is a general contractor and real estate developer in Hummelstown, Pa., a quaint bedroom community located about 11 miles from Pennsylvania’s capital city of Harrisburg

As president and CEO of Lawson Development & Construction Corp., Brubaker has dedicated himself to overseeing the development of a new apartment community called Verde – built on the site of an old produce-processing facility known as Verdelli Farms.

“Having Verizon’s FiOS in our community makes it more attractive as people choose to rent with us as opposed to our competitor,”

Just one mile from the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and within walking distance of shops, restaurants and recreation, Verde will be comprised of six buildings containing 134 one- and two-bedroom luxury apartments with upscale finishes and amenities, including Verizon’s FiOS Internet service in every unit.

Many of Verde’s potential tenants are young medical professionals who have come from all over the world to work at the Hershey Medical Center.  They are pleasantly surprised to find out big-cities amenities like super-fast FiOS Internet is available in Hummelstown, which is served by Verizon’s 100 percent fiber-optic network.

“Having Verizon’s FiOS in our community makes it more attractive as people choose to rent with us as opposed to our competitor,” said Brubaker.

FiOS Internet also is a key tool to help Brubaker stay productive.  He uses FiOS Internet at his business and at his home office, allowing him to work wherever he needs to anytime he wants.

“It gives us a great sense of pride having that investment and knowing how important telecom infrastructure is today and how much more it’s going to be in the future,” said Brubaker.  “It just feels good to be ahead of that curve.”
