LIVE! From Cary, North Carolina…

This week’s episode came to you, live, from our Verizon Hub in Cary, North Carolina, where we were joined by a star-studded cast of Verizon leadership including the Work Forward Engagement Leader in Cary, Chau Dang, EVP Chief Human Resources Officer, Sam Hammock, and Verizon’s CEO Hans Vestberg.

Chau kicked us off with all the great things that are happening at Verizon in Cary, North Carolina, home to 1,500 V Teamers.

 

Pacing Ourselves This Month

It’s May, which means it's Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage (AAPI) Month and Chau gave us everything we need to know about this year’s theme: "Changing PACE: Challenging Norms and Leading Change Together," and all the great ways we’re celebrating the amazing contributions of the AAPI community.

Business Update with Hans

Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg joined live to give a few business updates on the following:

  • Time 100 Summit
  • Store visits
  • Global Citizen Now

He also shared that the whole Verizon leadership team gathers a few times a year to visit some Work Forward engagement hubs, and he’s felt invigorated by the team in Cary thus far.

 

Moving Forward with “Work Forward

Earlier this week, Verizon rolled out a new U.S. hybrid work model. Chief Human Resources Officer, Sam Hammock, joined live to break down what it means for V Teamers.

Starting June 17, employees will work on-site at a Verizon location at least eight days a month –– which works out to be about two days a week in the office. The changes won’t affect international employees or anyone working remotely, full-time.

Why the change? Sam explained that it’s all about boosting consistency, building community, encouraging collaboration and supporting employee development.

Sam also emphasized that even though we’ll be spending more time in the office together, Verizon remains one of the most flexible companies to work for – and, above all, employee work/life balance will always be a top priority.

 

Hot off the press: Data Breach Investigation Report

Verizon Business CEO Kyle Malady came on and thanked the V Teamers in the audience for their hard work on multiple projects.

Additionally, Verizon just released a new Data Breach Investigation Report (or, DBIR), highlighting current cybersecurity trends and how businesses can navigate the digital landscape. Kyle broke it all down for us, to read up on the report, click here.
