NEW YORK – Other than Max Verstappen, who won the inaugural race, Verizon customers had the most to celebrate at Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix. Almost 60% percent of the three-day crowd relied on the Verizon wireless network and they were able to consume massive amounts of data at super-fast speeds, while taking advantage of unique 5G Ultra Wideband-powered experiences.

  • Over the three day event, Verizon customers used more than 34 terabytes of data. That’s a 52 percent increase over the 22.8 terabytes of data used in the same location during a major sporting event in February 2020.

  • Fans used more than 15 terabytes of data on Sunday alone, nearly matching the data used during the first two days of the event.

  • Nearly half of the data consumed during the three-day event (16.5 TB) used the Verizon 5G network, meaning fans were able to take advantage of the speed and bandwidth 5G can provide for these types of crowded events.

  • Verizon fans benefitted from peak download speeds of 2.8 Gbps on our 5G Ultra Wideband network and average download speeds of more than 1 Gbps.

“Our 5G Ultra Wideband network is built to give our customers great experiences, whether they are at world-class sporting events, or running errands in their hometown,” said Hans Vestberg, Verizon Chairman and CEO. “Our network provides tremendous performance when you connect in crowded spaces and it’s easy to see from our results why the majority of F1 fans in Miami chose Verizon.”
