ROCHESTER, NY — Verizon Wireless announced it has enhanced its digital wireless service in Niagara County by adding capacity to four digital cell sites. The additional capacity will allow the sites to handle increased wireless traffic and improve system performance in Niagara Falls, near the Niagara Falls airport, and along routes 62 and 429.
According to Gene Fassett, executive director of network for Verizon Wireless' Upstate New York Region, the site will provide the wireless carrier's Niagara County-area subscribers with improved wireless coverage when making cellular calls across the region.
Verizon Wireless expects to further increase service coverage in the area by adding additional cell sites in 2001.
