EVANSVILLE, IN — Verizon Wireless, the only major carrier with a 30-day network Test Drive pledge that pays for calls if a customer isn't satisfied and switches to another carrier, has upgraded equipment on its existing cell sites on the east side of Evansville, increasing network capacity by 25 percent throughout the area.
The cell site upgrades enable more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls; send and receive e-mail and text, picture and video messages; and download games, music and Ringtones while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls in the following areas:
- U.S. Highway 41, east to Chandler and Newburgh;
- U.S. Highway 41 north to Highland and south to Interstate 164; and
- Interstate 64 south to the Ohio River.
"Network reliability is the No. 1 reason that customers choose and stay with Verizon Wireless," said Greg Haller, president Indiana/Kentucky/Michigan region, Verizon Wireless. "Getting through on the first try and maintaining a connection are important to our customers. We continue to optimize our network so that it remains reliable."
The network improvements are part of Verizon Wireless' continual effort to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Indiana and throughout the country.
