BOISE, ID — Verizon Wireless and the Boise State Broncos invite fans to go ‘green’ and help curb domestic violence in the community at the same time.
Fans attending the Broncos home football game on Tuesday, Oct. 26 can donate their used wireless phones and accessories to the HopeLine® by Verizon phone recycling program. HopeLine drop boxes will be at the Verizon Wireless tent at the Allen Noble Hall of Fame Plaza during the home games. Students from the Department of Criminal Justice and School of Social Work will be at Gates B, C, H and I to help collect phones during the Oct. 26 game.
About HopeLineThe HopeLine from Verizon program collects no-longer used wireless phones, batteries and accessories from any wireless service provider at its Communications Stores nationwide and puts the nation’s most reliable wireless network to work in local communities by turning these unused wireless phones into support for survivors of domestic violence. Phones donated to HopeLine that can be refurbished are sold for reuse and those without value are recycled in an environmentally sound way. Proceeds from HopeLine are used to award grants and to donate wireless phones with prepaid airtime to local shelters and non-profit organizations. October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
“Verizon Wireless is pleased to partner for the sixth year in a row with the Boise State Broncos to have HopeLine a part of the game-day activities,” said Melanie Braidich, regional president for Verizon Wireless. “We applaud Broncos fans for helping make a difference by raising awareness of domestic violence and doing a good thing for the environment by keeping old wireless phones out of landfills.”
Equipment can also be donated to the HopeLine program year-round at any Verizon Wireless Communications Store across the country or through the mail by downloading a postage-paid label at www.verizonwireless.com/hopelinemailinglabel.
