As we approach the one year anniversary of Superstorm Sandy, the National Football League, The New York/New Jersey Super Bowl XLVIII Host Committee, NYC Parks and Verizon joined 1,400 volunteers to help plant 20,000 trees in Rockaway Park. 
Todays tree planting event is the largest reforestation project the New York City Parks Commission has ever done. The event started at 9 am and the volunteers had finished planting all 20,000 trees by 1pm. 
The Environmental Director from the NFL, Jack Groh points out that this is also the largest reforestation effort the Super Bowl has ever done as well.
Commissioner of New York City Parks, Veronica White shares her thanks to all the sponsors of the event and notes the milestone reached today during this event.
