EL PASO, TX — Verizon Wireless and the UTEP Athletics Department invite you to join in during Domestic Violence Awareness month to help be part of the solution.

Fans attending the Miners home game on Saturday, September 30 can donate their used wireless phones and accessories to the Verizon Wireless HopeLine® program. Drop boxes will be located at the main entrance by the Verizon Wireless vehicle and on the north concourse at the Sun Bowl from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

At the same game, UTEP Athletics will debut on Miner Vision a domestic violence awareness Public Service Announcement (PSA) featuring Miners head women's basketball coach Keitha Adams.

"As a sponsor of UTEP Athletics, we are proud to team up with Coach Adams and the Miners to extend a HopeLine to victims of domestic violence," said Tony Heyman, regional president for Verizon Wireless.

"Together, we can help curb an epidemic that affects one in every three American women during their lifetime."

Verizon Wireless' HopeLine program collects wireless phones and accessories from any wireless service provider, and then refurbishes the phones or recycles them in an environmentally friendly way. Proceeds from the program are used to provide wireless phones and airtime, and financial grants to domestic violence and non-profit advocacy agencies.

Wireless phones and equipment can be donated to the HopeLine program year-round at any Verizon Wireless Communications Store across the country.

* Editor's Note: Beginning Oct. 2, members of the media are invited to download a broadcast-quality copy of the PSA at www.verizonwireless.com/multimedia.
