The Verizon Foundation has pledged $20,000 to help families affected by the fertilizer plant explosion in West, TX that occurred on the evening of Wednesday, April 17. Some of the local residents homes’ were ruined by the blast, while others were relocated to shelters for safety reasons. The grants – $10,000 for the Salvation Army and $10,000 for the American Red Cross – will help with relief efforts in the local community.
The Salvation Army and the American Red Cross have been actively supporting the recovery and cleanup efforts in West since the explosion. Verizon Foundation, which is focused on using technology and grants to help address critical social issues and communities in need, is now joining forces with these two disaster relief organizations to help families rebuild their lives.
