As part of our “Meet the Blogger” feature, today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Wilborn (@ericwilborn), one of our blog’s original contributors.

Give us a brief description of who you are and tell us about why you like blogging.

I’m Eric! I’m an IT guy who can’t get over his fascination with technology of all sorts. If I don’t know about it, I’m probably going to want to learn about it. That’s where blogging comes in – I’m able to voice my opinion to a crowd and pass along what I have learned.

What’s your favorite part about being a blogger?

Besides passing along information, my favorite part of blogging is the collaboration with brands, as well as the people working for the brands.

What’s one of your favorite blogging moments?

The first time I was “published” on the Verizon Midwest Area Tumblr, of course!

What’s your one “can’t live without” app?

Evernote keeps me synced (and sane) on the go and at home. With it on my computer, as well as my phone, I not only can keep text notes, but also pictures available at all times.

What was your “AHA” technology moment?

When I joined Best Buy, I had a choice between working in the camera department or with MP3 players. I didn’t know a lot about cameras but something drew me to them. But I wanted to do more than just sell cameras – I wanted to know them inside and out. So I took a dive into the various specifications, took some photography classes, fell in love and never looked back.

How long have you been reviewing Verizon devices and services and what are a few of your favorite Verizon devices and why?

I’ve been a Verizon customer from my very first contract and have never considered changing. During that time, I’ve been a Best Buy Mobile consultant, reviewing and recommending devices to customers in store, and am currently an IT technician doing the same for businesses. My first Verizon phone, the RAZR V3, was a sign of freedom to me. The Droid Eris by HTC was my first smartphone and got me hyped up for this crazy, fast paced phone world. I currently carry the DROID DNA and it’s easily the best phone out there. It features the perfect screen size for me, 4G LTE, Beats Audio and an amazing camera… what’s not to like?

What’s a good personal motto to live by?

“Don’t take life too seriously – you’ll never get out alive.” It comes from the movie Van Wilder and it does just the trick when I need to remember to breathe and relax.

Who influenced you most and why did that lead you to blogging?

My teachers along the way have kept me writing. In high school, I ran a small fake news site I called “Faux News,” and it received great feedback from peers as well as the teachers it occasionally featured. While at Danville Area Community College, I had professors that liked my work and were always very encouraging. They’re the reason that I kept writing after college and to this day.

Make a prediction about technology based on where you’d like the world to be 10 years from now.

I was expecting hovercrafts already… I’d like to think that in another 10 years we’d have them. That’s not too much to ask, right? I’m sure Verizon will have a hand in keeping them connected to the world.
