On today’s issue of Up To Speed Live:

🎂 We’ve been Up To Speed for 8 years, and we’re still running strong!

Yesterday was a special anniversary: It was April 15, 2016, when Up To Speed aired for the first time. We’re closing in on a decade of keeping V Teamers connected, entertained and informed when you need it most.

A big thank you to the leaders and partners around the business who take time out of their busy schedules to make sure that we always have the latest information to share with you.

We also have to give a huge hand to all of our communications partners and our VZTV Studio crew; a phenomenally talented group of individuals who lend their vast expertise to bringing you a one-of-a-kind viewing experience.

The BIGGEST thank you to all of you for tuning in when we tried new things that worked (and those that didn’t), when the world changed with COVID and you joined us when it was the only way for us to stay close, when we created a new space for folks to watch live in Basking Ridge, and when we’ve brought the show to you from the neighborhood store, to the Super Bowl, to Work Forward Hubs and from Verizon India just last month.

You are the reason that we are honored to make Up To Speed our labor of love, week in and week out.

🏃Four V Teamers representing at the Boston Marathon!

It was a big holiday in Massachusetts yesterday, AKA Patriots’ Day, which is also the day when the Boston Marathon takes place. The 128th running featured four V Teamers – all of whom finished the race!

Amazing work: Congratulations to Chandler Ogden, Sandip Mukherjee, Paul Sullivan and Katrina Pelican

🎹 From running the streets to tickling the ivories…

And now, we move from feats of strength to those of artistry and technical mastery as Marketing’s Andrew Throdahl took second prize in the 32nd International Competition for Outstanding Piano Amateurs in Paris, France!

🎶A musical feat: Andrew played Maurice Ravel’s “Scarbo” from Gaspard de la nuit, a piece so structurally and technically demanding that it is considered to be one of the most difficult solo pieces – ever. (Watch a video of Andrew’s performance here.)

Praise from the ambassador: U.S. Ambassador to France, Denise Bauer, was invited to the finals to support the U.S. participants. In addition to her praise for Andrew, she mentioned being a happy Verizon customer back home.

😶‍🌫️ It’s VBG at NAB: Our 5G turns latency into history.

On the road: This week, our Verizon Business teammates are in fabulous Las Vegas showcasing media and entertainment solutions at this year's National Association of Broadcasters Conference.

Teaming up to fight lag: Verizon Business is teaming up with Amazon Web Services (AWS) on a new 5G-enabled cloud broadcasting solution that delivers ultra-low-latency (milliseconds as opposed to seconds) when the league broadcasts content. Together with AWS, the NHL produced their first-ever, live-to-air cloud broadcast of the Carolina Hurricanes vs. Washington Capitals game on March 22.

What milliseconds mean: Seconds to milliseconds can be a game-changer for the broadcast industry, using live cloud production to produce high-quality content from virtually anywhere, at nearly any scale, while optimizing resources.

New channels, new experiences: Additionally, rapid delivery and cloud efficiency will allow the league to streamline content distribution to social media channels and new platform partners to create enhanced fan experiences.
