BASKING RIDGE, NJ - Verizon's 5G customers have the fastest 5G download speeds and among the best download speed experience nationwide, according to the Opensignal US 5G User Experience Report1 released today.

The report focused on three key categories: 5G Download Speed, User Download Speed Experience -5G Users, and 5G Availability. In addition to providing the fastest average 5G download speeds -- 494.7 Mbps -- the Verizon 5G network also earned joint best Download Speed Experience.

The Download Speed Experience award takes into account the average 3G, 4G and 5G download speed that 5G users see, along with the time connected to each type of network.

Discussing the key findings on download speeds, the report noted that “[Verizon’s] speeds were almost ten times faster than our 5G speeds of their competitors.”

Opensignal measures the real-world experience of consumers on mobile networks in the places they live, work and travel.

“Our 5G Ultra Wideband Network continues to deliver an unparalleled experience for our customers,” said Kyle Malady, Chief Technology Officer for Verizon. “Our engineers and technicians continue to accelerate the deployment of our 5G UWB network through market launches and expansions, and successful technology trials that will help us maintain and extend our industry leadership.”

Verizon was the first in the world to launch 5G mobility service for customers in 2019 and continues to work with key partners to lead the development of the 5G ecosystem that will power the services that will change how we live, work and play. Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband is currently available in parts of 35 cities.
