Last month, Verizon announced the 12 winners of the 2014 Powerful Answers Award, three in each of the following categories: education, health care, sustainability and transportation. The $1 million first place winners in each of the categories will soon be revealed.
The remaining eight winners will receive $250,000 each, for a total of $6 million in prizes from Verizon. The 2014 winning ideas range from touch-Free smartphones for the disabled, streamlined organ donations, a mobile-enabled solar distribution grid and simplified public transportation.
This is the second year of the Verizon Powerful Answers Award, which was designed to encourage innovation and new solutions using wireless, broadband, cloud and other technology. One of the first $1 million winners, Smart Vision Labs of New York City has made incredible strides in just one year.
