Apple iPhone - Enable / Disable / Modify Screen Lock
Here's how to set up, change or disable the passcode for your iPhone.
If the passcode is forgotten, your Apple® iPhone® needs to be restored to default settings using iTunes. Refer to this iTunes support page for instructions.
- Open theSettings app.
- TapDisplay & Brightness.
- TapAuto-Lockthen select the auto-lock time interval.
- TapBackthen tapSettings.
- Select the option for your device:
- If your iPhone is Face ID capable, tapFace ID & Passcode.
- If your iPhone is Touch ID capable, tapTouch ID & Passcode.
- Do one of the following:
- Turn on Passcode
- TapTurn Passcode On.
- Enter a passcode then re-enter it to continue.TapPasscode Optionsto choose other passcode options (e.g., Custom Alphanumeric, Custom Numeric, etc.).
- If prompted, enter your Apple ID password then tapSign In.
- From the 'ALLOW ACCESS WHEN LOCKED' section, tap any of the available options (i.e., Today View and Search, Notification Center, Control Center, etc.) to turn on or off.
- Turn off Passcode
- Enter your passcode then tapTurn Passcode Off.
- Review the message, then tapTurn Off.
- If prompted, enter your Apple ID password.
- Change Passcode
- Enter your passcode then tapChange Passcode.
- Enter a new passcode then re-enter it to continue.TapPasscode Optionsto choose other passcode options (e.g., Custom Alphanumeric, Custom Numeric, etc.).
