Service updates to Verizon digital security products FAQs

Starting on 4/9/26, we'll upgrade the Dark Web Monitoring experience to Digital Footprint Manager in Digital Secure. To maintain breach monitoring protection, you'll need to re-add the email address and select the content you want monitored for breaches into Digital Footprint Manager. You'll receive a notification from the Verizon Protect app when Digital Footprint Manager is ready to set up.

1. Open the Verizon Protect app.
2. Go to Services > Digital Footprint Manager.
3. Tap on Add data to monitor.
4. Select email address.
5. Enter you email address and tap Save.
6. Complete setup through the confirmation link we sent to the email address you entered.
7. Click the link to verify your email and complete setup.
8. Repeat steps for additional email addresses or other data for monitoring.

• Retirement date: The service sunset on 4/9/26.
• Customer notification: Active subscribers were notified of this change by bill message, email or text message.

If you got a notice about the retirement of the Security & Privacy service, you can transition to Digital Secure to keep your device protection. You have 2 options:

Option 1: Digital Secure Premium (paid subscription)

Upgrade to the paid version for comprehensive, advanced protection, including identity theft monitoring and VPN services.

How to switch to a paid subscription:

1. Open the My Verizon app.
2. Tap the Mobile tab.
3. Scroll to My products & plan perks.
4. Select Security & Privacy and choose Cancel.
5. Select Digital Secure Premium to add the new subscription.
6. Download the Verizon protect app (required).

Option 2: Digital Secure Basic (no additional cost)

Continue using the standard device and browsing protection features at no additional cost. No paid subscription is required for these basic tools:

• Manage your Digital Secure features through the Verizon Protect app.
• Safe Browsing (Windows/Mac) protects against unsafe websites that might put your personal information at risk when surfing, shopping and socializing online on your Windows/Mac device.
• Scans your device and Wi-Fi for threats (Android™ only).
• Checks if your device's software is up to date (Android/iOS)

Verizon upgraded the technology behind Digital Secure. Your subscription remains the same and moved to a new platform that gives you better performance and more reliable threat detection.

After the 4/9/26 update, follow these 3 steps to keep your protection active:

1. Restart the app: Close and reopen the Verizon Protect app.
2. Re-enter info for Dark Web Monitoring: If you previously set up Dark Web Monitoring, re-enter your personal information to continue receiving breach alerts.
3. Reinstall desktop client: If you have the Digital Secure PC or Mac desktop client, you'll need to uninstall the existing client, then redownload and reinstall the updated version.

No, this is a technology upgrade to your existing service. Your current subscription and monthly rate will remain the same.*

*Digital Secure customers who reside in New York may see a price increase. Check New York customers tab for details.

Effective 4/9/26, Verizon retires the Digital Secure subscription plan offered to New York residents. To make sure New York customers have uninterrupted protection, accounts are transitioning to the Premium Digital Secure plan.

We sent notifications to impacted subscribers by bill message, email and text message in February regarding these specific updates:

• Automatic enrollment: On 4/9/26, you're automatically moved to Digital Secure Premium.
• No interruption: Your advanced protection features will remain active; no action is required to stay protected.
• Original monthly pricing for NY customers
  • $1.25 per line/month (line-level protection)
  • $3 per account/month (account-level protection)
• New monthly pricing for NY customers:
  • $5 per line/month (line-level protection)
  • $10 per account/month (account-level protection)

If you don't want to transition to the new plan, you can opt out at any time using the My Verizon app with Account Owner or Manager permissions :

1. Open the My Verizon app.
2. Tap the Mobile tab.
3. Scroll to My products & plan perks.
4. Select Digital Secure and select Cancel.
5. Continue using the standard device and browsing protection features at no additional cost. No paid subscription is required for these basic tools.

During the week of 4/9/26, we're making updates to the Verizon Protect app. If you have just subscribed or updated your plan during that time and notice the service is not immediately active, wait 15 minutes for our systems to refresh.

If your services are not visible after the 15-minute waiting period, simply close and reopen the Verizon Protect app to complete the activation. This allows the app to sync and allows access to Identity Secure.
