Verizon FiOS TV App for Samsung Devices What Is the Verizon FiOS TV App For Samsung Devices?
Verizon is proud to offer FiOS customers a new option for viewing select live TV channels and FiOS On Demand movies and TV shows within the home. If you subscribe to both FiOS TV and FiOS Internet, you can use the Verizon app to watch FiOS content on Samsung devices such as connected TVs and Blu-ray players without having to pay for another Set-Top Box!

* Please note all models are currently not supported. Please refer to the list at the bottom of this page. More models will be added soon so please check back often!

How Do I Download the FiOS TV App?
Go to the Samsung App store on your Samsung connected TV or Blu-ray player to download the Verizon FiOS TV application. Once downloaded, the application will walk you through the steps you need to get started watching your FiOS content.

How Do I Stream Live TV Channels Using the FiOS TV App?
It’s easy to start watching select live streaming television channels* on your Samsung connected TV or Blu-ray player using your home network and your FiOS services. If you already subscribe to both FiOS TV service and FiOS Internet service, simply tune to the channel you want to watch from the Verizon FiOS TV app and it will begin streaming, no additional FiOS TV Set-Top Box required.

* Not all channels in the FiOS TV lineup are available at this time.

Don’t forget, you must be subscribed to the selected channel in your FiOS TV channel package in order to enjoy it on your Samsung device. To check your channel package subscriptions, go to www.myverizon.com and sign in. You can also add channels and upgrade your channel package from My Verizon or directly from your FiOS TV Set-Top Box using your remote control.

How Do I Find Out Which Channels Are Available For Streaming?
Not sure exactly what you want to watch? Check out the TV listings guide in the FiOS TV app on Samsung, which is much like the guide on your FiOS TV Set-Top Box. It shows which programs are on now, or coming up soon on each of the available channels that are streaming to your device.

You can also use the Thumbnail Grid view, which shows you screen captures of the currently airing program on each channel, as well as details like title, description, SD or HD, TV or MPAA rating, Closed Captioning, and more. Just select a channel to begin watching your program.

What Do I Do If Live Streaming Channels Are Not Working?
Having problems viewing or hearing a particular channel or program? Try the following:
  • Check that all cable connections between your Samsung device and TV are properly seated
  • Check your audio connections and confirm that audio is working properly
  • Check that your Samsung device is still connected to your FiOS home router, either wired or wirelessly
  • Check that your FiOS router is working properly and that all connections are properly seated (you may need to power off and power on your router or press the reset button to reset it)
  • Make sure you are subscribed to the channel you are trying to stream (to check your channel package subscriptions, go to www.myverizon.com and sign in)

What Is Video On Demand / FiOS On Demand?
The Verizon FiOS TV FiOS On Demand catalog has over 15,000 titles available for viewing on multiple screens such as a mobile phone, tablet, PC, web browser, and now even your Samsung connected TV or Blu-ray player. These titles are a subset of the larger Video On Demand library available from your FiOS TV Set-Top Box.

The FiOS On Demand label on the movie / TV poster indicates that you can buy, rent, or watch the selected title from any of these access points, while regular On Demand titles are available only through your FiOS TV Set-Top Box.

If you have already purchased or rented a FiOS On Demand movie or TV show, you can access it from your Samsung device in the Purchase History menu. Any titles in your FiOS On Demand library will be available here until they have expired (rentals only; purchases do not expire). On Samsung devices, all purchases and rentals are available for streaming only. Downloads are not supported.

Rentals must be watched within 30 days of purchase. Once you begin watching a rental, you have 24 to 48 hours (depending on the title) to finish watching it. Some Movies and TV shows are offered in both HD and SD formats.
  • How do I pay for FiOS On Demand videos?
If you are a Verizon Residential customer, your purchases and rentals will be added to your Verizon residential bill. Individual purchases will be listed separately.
  • What is the difference between purchases and rentals?
When you purchase, you pay once and then have unlimited access to your movie or TV show for as long as your FiOS On Demand account is active. When you rent, you will have access to the title as long as you begin watching within 30 days. Once you do begin watching, you will have 24 or 48 hours to finish watching your movie or TV show, depending on the content rights.
  • Can I store FiOS On Demand titles on my connected TV or Blu-ray player?
No, FiOS On Demand titles are available for streaming only on consumer electronic devices. Storage is not supported on either customer-owned devices or through external devices.

How Do I Authorize My Device For FiOS On Demand?
You will need to authorize your Samsung connected TV or Blu-ray player if you choose to authorize it for FiOS On Demand access. (NOTE: if you only wish to use your Samsung device for watching live streaming TV channels, device authorization is not necessary.)

If you have not done so already, simply go to the Settings menu in the FiOS TV app and select Authorize Device. You will have the option to enter an authorization code on a web site from your computer or laptop, or use the onscreen keyboard to enter your Verizon FiOS user name and password on the Samsung device itself.

After authorization, you can create your 4-digit Purchase PIN. Make sure to create a PIN that you will remember, as you will need to enter it each time you make a purchase or rental. If you ever forget your PIN or need to change it, simply go to www.verizon.com/fiosdevices and log in to your account to manage your parental and purchase control PINs.

Don’t forget that you will remain logged in to your Samsung device until you manually log out, or de-authorize the device. You should de-authorize this device as one of your 5 FiOS On Demand devices if you are selling, donating, or disposing of of your Samsung connected TV or Blu-ray player.

How Do I Manage My FiOS On Demand Devices?
You can authorize up to five (5) FiOS On Demand authorized devices per FiOS On Demand-enabled account. As a FiOS TV subscriber, all of your Set-Top Boxes within a single household will count as one of your five (5) allotted FiOS On Demand authorized devices. Besides your Set-Top Boxes, you can also add up to four (4) of the following types of devices:
  • Mobile Phone (certain compatible models)
  • Tablet (certain compatible models)
  • Select Samsung devices such as connected TVs and Blu-ray players (Please note all models are currently not supported. Please refer to the list at the bottom of this page. More models will be added soon so please check back often!)
  • Web Browser

You are only permitted to de-authorize two (2) FiOS On Demand authorized devices per FiOS On Demand-enabled account per calendar year without connecting through your PC. You are only permitted to de-authorize and re-authorize the same FiOS On Demand authorized device two (2) times within a calendar year. Don’t forget to de-authorize old devices if you lose or replace them.

How Do I Use Search?
Looking for a specific movie or TV show in the FiOS TV app? Use the Search feature to quickly and easily locate programs in the app without having to navigate through the Program Guide or Video On Demand library. Just select Search and enter your search term using the onscreen keyboard.

How Do I Turn On Closed Captioning?
Closed Captioning is available for most programs on most live streaming TV channels. To turn Closed Captioning on, go to Settings in the Verizon FiOS TV app and select Closed Captioning. You should start seeing Closed Captioning being displayed whenever it is available for the selected program.

How Do I Use Parental Controls?
Parental Controls and Purchase Controls are available from the Settings menu in the FiOS TV app. Parental Controls are optional, and allow you to block programs by rating based on age category.

Purchase Controls are mandatory if you choose to authorize your Samsung device for FiOS On Demand access. Simply create a 4-digit PIN that you will remember, as you will need to enter it each time you make a purchase or rental.

If you ever forget your PIN or need to change it, simply go to www.verizon.com/fiosdevices and log in to your account to manage your parental and purchase control PINs.
