Go back to school in style with the best tech. Plus. how we are helping students and V Teamers thrive on their educational journeys.
Back-to-school is in full swing and on today’s edition of Up To Speed we shared many of the ways in which we’re helping students and V Teamers thrive on their educational journeys. We also shared some awesome back-to-school deals that you won’t want to miss.
Verizon Innovative Learning Program
Back-to-school can be an exciting time for many but at Verizon we’re also aware that many young people across the U.S. still lack basic access to vital tech resources like the internet, which can make this time of year a stressful one. That’s why we created the Verizon Innovative Learning program, to bridge the digital divide and transform the learning experience for students and educators.
In partnership with Digital Promise, we currently provided 592 Title I middle and high schools with devices - including tablets, laptops and hotspots - and access to innovative learning programs. We’re now reaching over 3.5 million students nationwide and we’re not stopping. The program is welcoming 31 new Title I middle and high schools and 36 new high-tech learning labs in schools across the country this fall.
These efforts are part of Citizen Verizon, our responsible business plan for economic, environmental and social advancement. Our goal is to provide 10 million young people with digital skills training by 2030. And thanks to our free education portal, Verizon Innovative Learning HQ, we’re doing just that. Students and educators nationwide can access learning resources such as “how-to” lessons related to e-sports and game design, plus much more.
Last year, we asked you to tell a teacher in your community about Verizon Innovative Learning HQ simply by sharing an e-card. That effort helped over 60K kids get access to free educational resources like lesson plans and AR apps. That is awesome! With new lessons being added and an all new user interface, we think we can go even further.
