On today’s edition of Up To Speed Live, host Andy Choi shared the following updates:
Week in review
Monday: We touched down in LA and checked in with our friends at the Inglewood store. We also got a sneak peek at our Super Bowl ad.
Wednesday: Jess and Andy got ‘griddy’ on the dance floor, and invited you to join in our dance challenge.
Thursday: We gave you a preview of all the ways Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband is creating the biggest and best Super Bowl yet, along with the spectacular Pepsi Super Bowl LVI halftime show. Make sure you download the Pepsi Halftime mobile app to be transported into the show itself. You’ve never experienced halftime like this before.
Two MVPs: Eli and 5G
Andy and Jess kicked off the show by having a little fun with retired quarterback Eli Manning. Eli is the first to say he is a big fan of Verizon. He and Andy discussed the importance of staying connected, especially when recording a live TV show.
Return of The Cable Guy
If you haven’t watched it yet, be sure to check out the teaser for our new ad featuring Jim Carrey. Be on the lookout for the full 30-second ad during the second half of the big game Sunday night.
5G Lab tour
Jess spent part of her time in Los Angeles visiting the Verizon 5G Lab. Among the many highlights, she showed off the futuristic XR stage. ‘XR’ stands for ‘extended reality’ which means a combination of real and virtual environments. This stage is geared for next generation content creation, including everything from music videos to live events streamed over 5G.
Jess also peeked into the 5G Gaming Center where an actual esports team continues to level up their skills. With our low latency throughout the lab, no one is complaining about lag. These are only a couple examples of what the lab offers.
“We bring individuals in here to show them how we are working with developers so that consumers and enterprises can take advantage of our innovations, but more importantly, innovations from other companies,” explained Brian Higgins, SVP of Device and Consumer Product Marketing. “That’s what it’s really about. We are building an enablement platform here that can better the community and better everyone else connected to the network to have better solutions.”
5G Home Testamonials
Matt ‘Fiedy’ Fiedler hosted another edition of Up To Speed Center which included Andrew Testa sharing some ‘5G Home Testamonials’ from happy customers across the country. Multiple folks mentioned how the high speeds and low latency have been a game changer compared to the experience provided by their previous providers.
NFL Green
Kacie Holder was in Los Angeles celebrating our ninth year as a sustainability partner with NFL Green. This year, we supported a dozen events greening community gardens and planted 5,600 trees in Southern California. These trees go toward Verizon’s public goal of planting 20 million trees by 2030.
Since we kicked off our partnership in 2014, we’ve donated over 150,000 items to local students and schools in need. Now that’s living the credo!
Thanks to our engineers
Jess also visited the Verizon Command Center which has been gearing up for the big game. It’s a reminder that we have deployed an army of technicians who have installed hundreds of pieces of 5G equipment that will benefit the Los Angeles area for years to come.
Lots of big winners
It wouldn’t be the week of the big game without some big prizes, and West Consumer Group VP Steve Keller made some wonderful memories at two of our Verizon stores near SoFi stadium. Two lucky customers were astounded to learn that they had won tickets to the big game! Congrats!
We also gave out a prize of our own: a tailgate package for one of our 5G Ultra Challenge contestants. Congrats to our incredibly talented winner Connie Hawkins from VBG Sales Operations. Thanks, Connie, for your hilarious submission!
And speaking of tailgating, we also have a great tailgate promo happening now.
