Happy Tuesday, V Team! On today’s episode of Up To Speed, host Raquel Wilson shared all the ways in which we celebrated and continue to celebrate Pride Month.

"Never Hide Your Pride," was our theme this year. It’s been a month filled with reflection and action towards our movement for equality as we stand up for inclusion and acceptance.

From the Gay for Good volunteer event, which allowed participants to create cards for LGBTQ+ seniors; to the PRISM and UNITED health and wellness event that taught attendees how to make healthy mocktails while sharing resources for HIV awareness; and the 2022 Virtual Pride Parade with interactive features to learn about allyship, health equity, LGBTQ+ history and more.

But that’s not all, there’s still time to participate in two more Pride Month events:

  • June 29: Join PRISM and VCG employees at 1 PM ET, for a special Pride Month event featuring celebrity guest, Carson Kressley. He’ll be sharing his personal journey; the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace; how he gives back to the community; and what it means to #NeverHideYourPride.
  • June 30: Meet us for a LinkedIn Live event with Leah Chisolm, also known as LP Giobbi, for a discussion on the challenges they faced while creating Femme House, a non-profit organization designed to help women, gender diverse women, and BIPOC women who are trying to navigate the music production space.

An international celebration

PRISM is now international, on June 16 the first ever EMEA Pride Day was hosted in Paris and London. The event streamed across EMEA; included a special brunch in Paris, festivities in London and Reading, and a panel talk with a guest speaker.

An important message

We closed the show with a video from the VCG Employee Experience Team in partnership with PRISM shot at the Stonewall National Monument. PRISM members shared their thoughts on the significance of Stonewall, its impact on the LGBTQ+ community and the importance of embracing and advocating for the LGBTQ+ at work. Members also stressed how Verizon has nurtured a workplace that allows for these types of important conversations.
