On today’s episode of Up To Speed, we meet Pat Brodde, a 23-year V Teamer and a Digital Marketing Manager who’s been that, and so much more, at home.

Since 2017, Pat has served as her husband’s caretaker. Pat recalled it all started when he was 54 and could no longer concentrate on his tasks at work. After he experienced more symptoms and many medical consultations, doctors at the Mayo Clinic diagnosed him with a rare form of early-onset Alzheimer’s.

Although they’ve found the experience challenging, Pat said she’s been able to manage thanks to the support of friends, family and her fellow V Teamers. “I just don’t know another company that has as great benefits and is really invested in their employees as this company,” Pat added. “The people at Verizon make the world of difference. They do. It’s just the best place to work.”

Pat also explained how joining Verizon’s Parents and Caregivers Together (PACT) Employee Resource Group helped fuel her with courage and support throughout her journey.

She offered V Teamers advice: “You can’t take your health for granted; do things while you can, to the ability that you can; be kind; enjoy each other’s company – everything in your life – because it can change one day.”
