The helper’s high is real.

The benefits of volunteering range from boosting self-confidence to reducing anxiety, stress, depression and better overall health and longevity.

So when it comes to giving back, what are you waiting for?

National Volunteer Week is the perfect time to give back, and Verizon is making this a global endeavor so that all of us can make an impact, no matter where we are.

Of course, many V teamers are already doing so much. Take, for example:

  • Scarlet and her mom, Solutions Manager Chelsea Brunette, have been dropping off eggs and toilet paper to elderly neighbors in their Oshkosh, WI, community, and creating thank-you notes for dozens of healthcare workers.
  • Adrienne Wiliams, a General Manager from Alpharetta, GA, joins teachers in donating food for students at Oakcliff Elementary.
  • Soyirindhi Hore, a Human Resources Manager for Verizon Media in Bangalore, India, tutors students online.

Soyirindhi found her opportunity on our Verizon employee volunteer portal, where V Teamers can choose from 150 different virtual events in partnership with roughly 100 different organizations.

Since our volunteer portal shifted the focus to virtual volunteering, the number of V Teamers signing up increased by a whopping 280%. Thanks to the thousands of you who raised your digital hands to volunteer for more than 11,000 virtual events.

That brings us to this week’s mailbox challenge which - surprise, surprise - is all about volunteering.

Tell us what you’re doing. Are you helping kids? Spending time with seniors? Giving back to nature for this week’s Earth Day?

Send a note to good@verizon.com and share all the ways people in your life are making a difference.

Have a great week!
